The Drawing Is Where the Money Is Saved

Eighty percent of an optic's cost is committed before the first blank is cut. Before we quote, our engineers review your drawing until the tolerances, the process, and the budget agree.

Every incoming drawing gets the same treatment: we check each specification against our fabrication, coating, and inspection processes — before quoting. The result is a print that costs what it should, not what habit says.

Our review covers material selection against wavelength, environment and budget; tolerance cost drivers surface by surface; coating specification matched to angle of incidence and flux; and inspection planning so every callout on your print is testable in-house. We read your convention — ISO 10110, MIL, or annotated commercial drawings. The design authority stays with you.

How a senior engineer reads your tolerance block: irregularity and wavefront specs are checked against the beam footprint at each surface; the smallest footprint gets the tightest money. Everything else gets relaxed until performance says stop. That review alone typically removes 20–30% of fabrication cost.

Multipliers are typical industry ranges — actual deltas depend on material, size, and geometry. We price both levels on request so the trade is visible.
